There are eight major traits to keep in mind when teaching Business students and these traits are:
Time, socialising and networking, cultural considerations, political correctness, objectives, accountability, specific needs and professionalism.
Business students look to you to teach them proper ways of communicating in a business setting. No matter what sector the business student works in, this usually means that they are seeking to learn a foreign language they can use with work colleagues, potential clients and existing clients. A certain level of professionalism, political correctness and cultural consideration is required.
Today, multi-national organisations have opened channels of communication and increased opportunities to interact with people around the world. To avoid turning off colleagues, potential and current clients it will be important to greet, write and speak with the proper culturally accepted words, phrases and idiomatic expressions. Perhaps the language you are teaching requires you to address strangers in a certain form. Perhaps specific expressions are reserved for friend and family and others for work colleagues.
Writing a proper email is very important. Misunderstandings and miscommunication can lead to severe negative implications for a company.

PROFESSIONALISM: The corporate student has the characteristics of being professionals: behavior, behavior, education and culture. They are also very important factors. They know how to communicate clearly, concisely and politely with clients. In the same way they can behave with their language teachers.
SPECIFIC NEEDS: They must be considered and introduced in the class session. The trainer must include language and vocabulary according to their profession or area of interest. If the class is 1 to 1, it is easier to personalize the learning objective. It is also important to consider your weaknesses and points that need to be improved.
TIME: Good time management is very important. Corporate students have limited time and it is often interrupted by an appointment or meeting of workers. This happens when a meeting is moved to the last minute and coincides with the class schedule.

In my opinion, one of the most important factors when teaching business language learners is the element of time. these students tend to have a limited time to learn the required language so the teaching content should be picked selectively to target their individual needs. there is also the factor of cultural barriers when working with people internationally and this should be taken into account to avoid misinterpretations. additionally, another important factors is the specific needs and objectives of the leaner based on which industry they work in and in order to improve the learner’s motivation, the target language should be in line with the language they require to use in their work place. and finally, these learner’s require to learn formal and professional language to be able to successfully communicate and interact with other business professionals in their field of work.

All given points are correct. However, in my opinion the most outstanding are:
TIME as trainers we must know how long the trainer needs to improve their new language in order to structure an ideal learning path.
OBJECTIVES are very important to clarify in order to have an idea about the trainer’s priorities.
SPECIAL NEEDS are closely related to all of the above and help us to shape the study plan adapted to the learner.

Business learners are mainly characterized by their time, objectives, and specific needs. As they are professionals who invest most of their time working in a certain area of knowledge, their time is very limited; therefore, they do not have much time to focus on language learning so they need to achieve their learning goals in a shorter period of time.

Furthermore, business learners’ decision to learn a new language is based on their specific objectives and needs. Their main goal or objective is to learn the new language in order to increase their skills and expand their professional careers. That is why the learning process should be adapted to the learners’ needs and main objectives since they want to learn the language with a very specific professional purpose.

    Main points to consider:
1.They may be not interested in language itself.
2.They may hurry due to personal reasons.
3.They may want to focus more on grammar rather than vocabulary.
    4.Specific needs

Comparing with the points given in the presentation.
1.Time. TIme is money for business people, so I would limit small talks and focus on the target language druring the lesson yet not forget to create a friendly atmosphere.
2.Sociolizing and networking. For such learnrers it’s very important to develop soft skills so at the lessons it would be good idea to do some role-plays.
3.Cultural/Political correctness. I would consider this point not only with business learners, but also with general ones. Because all of them come to the lessons from different situationns which we are not aware of. So it’s important to demonstrate maximum understanding.
4.Objectives/ Specific needs. With such learners it’s extremely important to understand their needs and goals. So, I would do some research and instead of regular role plays initiate speaking based on their occupation

As everyone knows, language plays a very important role in someone’s career and life and that is ehy, learners are so motivated to learn and improve it.
Their interest in the language depends on their profession and the use of this language in their career.
Objectives are the mileposts to guide you and your employees on the way to building the business. Objectives are important because they convert visions into clear-cut measurable targets. Employees are well aware of what they are expected to achieve and when.
Also, Professionalism is common ground among business learners, so it is very important for a business English learner, they need to know how to conduct themselves in any work related situation, and have the correct formal language to express and be understood well by colleagues.

El factor principal es el tiempo me parece. Los estudiantes de negocios son generalmente peronas muy ocupadas y no es raro que no se presenten a las clases o que tengan que posponerlas. Es importante como profesor tener la suficiente paciencia y comprensión y adaptarse a los estudiantes y tratar siempre que haya una buena comunicación para no perder tiempo.

When discussing business language learners, all the elements listed in the presentation are certainly relevant, but I believe some of these characteristics to be of primary importance: objectives and specific needs in particular, then time issues and socializing/networking skills.
In my opinion, objectives and specific needs strongly characterize business language learners, being also strictly connected with motivational factors. As previously discussed, these students usually have a specific purpose for learning, they have clear goals they wish to achieve an thus come to class with certain expectations. Business learners need to develop specific language skills so that they can bring home concrete results and meet their company’s expectations. Trainers should be well aware of their learners’ objectives and customize lesson plans in order to provide fundamental information; they should carefully analyze the students’ specific needs and consequently use appropriate methods and materials, aiming to build effective lessons.
In many ways, time is also a crucial element. Business learners often deal with strict schedules and deadlines to respect, and therefore have a limited amount of time to acquire specific skills/knowledge. Moreover, they might not have at their disposal extra time to practice at home: it would surely be beneficial to make the best use of time while in class, and to ensure that all the students make the most out of each lesson.
Although socializing constitutes an essential element when discussing all types of learners, it does play an important and extremely practical role within a business context: by developing those language skills that are required in the workplace, business learners can gain confidence and interact much more effectively with international clients and colleagues.

My TRP for comparison didn’t open or download but In my opinion, I think these are the most important factors to consider for example
Accountability The business language learner needs to take accountability when it comes to improving themselves, should the company require it. Therefore, when the company insists that an employee do the course, then the learner needs to do so in order to allow for effective performance and growth within the organization.
Objectives For business learners these are the focus of their reason to learn the language.
    Time
Business learners need to spend more time on learning vocabulary because they are required to learn business vocabulary besides general

Some of the main points which characterizes business language learners are:
    • Time
    • Specific needs
    • Professionalism

Time is something which almost everybody complains about not having enough of. The business language students really don’t have a lot of time as they are working in a full-time job and are trying to learn a language on top of that and as I mentioned before, they often cannot attend classes due to pressures at work. This is what makes them different from, for example, school children who finish school at the same time each day and their parents bring them to the school for their language class and pick them up again.
Specific needs. Depending on our students´ jobs, we may be asked to teach students specific vocabulary relating to their work. I don´t think we would be expected to learn serious technical words, but it would be beneficial for us to have a general understanding of their type of work and what it is they want to learn from us in order to try and personalise classes for them.
Professionalism. Business language learners, and indeed we trainers, ought to have a high standard of professionalism. This includes being punctual, polite, professionally friendly, willing to work, and doing what we say we will. This characteristic doesn´t always apply to our younger students who have much to learn about life still. I think this is one of the most important characteristics of business language students and makes classes with them a pleasure.

It would be my opinion that the three most important points in the slide relating to business language are: cultural considerations, political correctness and professionalism. This being said, I do feel the others are also important.

In the professional field it is important that workers are very culturally considerate when communicating with others in their field. It not only shows respect but allows the listener to form a much better opinion of the person they are communicating with. While this is very important for business affairs, I do feel it is important in everyday life, however, a little less so.

Political correctness is a very important field in both areas but perhaps more so in a professional environment. When entering discussions with clients, it is important that the learner does not overstep the mark regarding political matters, as this is an area in which we are all sensitive. Therefore it would be a good starting point for learners to be able to master this area.

Professionalism is highly important to us all and I believe that all learners need to master this area. When they enter communication with a person in their profession it is best for all that they communicate in a different way than everyday language.

I will be covering the three factors that I find most important in the character of business learners:
Time: I think being on time, being able to manage your time, and just being considerate of timing shows a lot of professionalism. I really think it is important, and it is something that I may a lot of attention to in my own time. I always treat people who are on time most of the time, who are more considerate of time, with more respect.By showing up on time, they are showing that they respect you, and therefore deserve your respect back. And in business learners, or businessmen/women in general, I think that being on-time and being considerate of it, can really add to their character and to the way they are respected in their field.
Professionalism: There are lots of things that can show one’s professionalism. The way they dress, their posture, their appearance, their hand-shake, the words they choose, the way they greet you, and etc. These are all things that are noticeable upon your first encounter with that person. When you first meet someone, all of these things can give you a sense of how professional that person is. Learning the language well, and being able to speak in a steady and confident tone, and politely too, can be important in creating the appropriate professional impression.
Accountability: This is another factor that I think, again, adds to the professionalism of an individual. Taking account for your mistakes, or for your responsibilities can be very important. For example, a lot of individuals who are in the business world tend to go around their mistakes and try to make it look natural by lying or deceiving their client. However, taking account for their mistake and making up for it is a lot more ethical and gives a better impression to the client. This accountability and responsibility can be integrated into their learning as well. They take account for what they are being taught and what they have learnt, therefore working and putting in more effort to reach their ultimate goal.

Regarding the points I noted in the discussion about business learners and corporate clients, I get the impression that there is no uniform type of business learner: The characteristics may be as different and differently weighted as the fields of business as well as the learners themselves are.
Thus it should be most improtant to define the characteristics, purposes, motivation, etc. of each single business learner or business course in order to teach and train not only successfully, but also satisfyingly (the latter concerning the learner als well as the trainer!).

Business clients require a professional atmosphere to the lessons. They need a condensed direct lesson plan to be able to use their time effectively. They need to get to know business lingo to be able to keep up with their colleagues. They need support in writing and public speaking more than other learners.
