When it comes to teaching Business English, for me all of these factors should be considered equally important. Yet, I am supposed to choose only 3 of them, I would choose these ones:

Time: Business language learners are more time concious and they want to see the result faster than general language learners. Their course should be intensive but considering their levels is key here.

Professionalizm: Every teacher need to be aware of the professional vocabulary used in specific field if it is banking or management it can change the topics we choose. The teacher’s knowledge should cover all of these topics. On the other hand, learners should be delt with more professional approach rather thancasual.

Objectives: In every lesson, objectives play an essential role for assesing the progress of learners. We should put smart objectives considering if our objectives are sensible, applicable, time-oriented, and measureable. Other than class objectives created by teacher we could have learner objectives.

The learners’ needs- Business learners have particular needs and, so, trainers will got to incorporate dialect things and exercises which are related to their ranges of intrigued. In the event that learners are learning on a one-to-one premise, it is simpler to customize the learning objectives of the lesson to the individual learner.
Objectives – Goals are connected to time and inspiration, so, the business language learner as a rule has particular objectives to reach, which gets to be a inspiration, whether they need a pay raise, a advancement, or fair superior capabilities. They regularly have clear goals and they are utilized to setting due dates.
Polished skill- Typically the foremost imperative point, since learning a language and be able to talk it well and with the suitable lexicon in commerce makes the contrast.

Time constraints, objectives, specific needs and professionalism are possibly the most important aspects for a business learner. We all know how busy people are in the work environment and how important it is to them to be successful at their careers. Their objectives are usually clear – the will and desire to improve their
status and position within the organization they work for, possible career moves which require more expertise in English than they currently possess, and possibly professionalism above all. They wish to have the ability to perform at their best in all aspects of their job, including being able to communicate well in English with clients and organizations other than their own.

Time – objectives – specific needs – professionalism. I believe that these are extremely important to most business English students. Time is a precious commodity to them and as such they require both brevity and clarity in their classes to make the most of the time they are spending learning business English.

They generally have very clear objectives for learning to streamline and improve their knowledge of business
English, and are very aware of their specific needs in terms of what they wish to learn.

In the end, for them it tends to boil down to professional with regard to how they deal with colleagues in the workspace in English, but more importantly how they are able to deal with clients and international companies through both written and spoken communication. Gaining the knowledge increases their confidence and approach to conducting business in English. It also opens up avenues for advancement within their own organizations.

Specific needs – business learners often have very specific goals in mind (like doing presentations, writing emails, negotiating, online or in-person meetings etc). Doing a needs analysis before the lessons begin can be a great way to establish the learner’s goals, experience, professional requirements, time for self-study etc. BE learners often have limited time available, so the trainer has to focus on their specific needs as much as possible.

Cultural considerations – business learners need to be familiar with the customs and practices of the country or culture in which they work, or of the clients with which they might interact. A part of teaching a business learner might be to help the learner with the meanings of certain gestures, phrases, and greetings, and it would also involve instructing them on how to behave in certain settings, especially considering gender expectations and roles in certain countries. A custom in one country might seem very strange in another, so the learner needs to be aware of specific customs so as not to risk offence.

Time – time is often limited for business learners because of both professional and personal commitments. It is understandable that these would take priority over language learning, so the trainer needs to be flexible and adaptable in their methods. Maybe, for example, a trainer expects 5 learners and only 2 attend the lesson. This needs to be considered in the lesson plans. Time available for independent study and homework can also be limited or non-existent, so the trainer needs to try and maintain a decent standard of progress for the learner while dealing with these limits. Furthermore, more time in lessons might be spent on learning specific vocabulary related to their field of work, rather than on general language topics. Time might be limited also due to a pressing commitment for which they need to prepare e.g., a presentation, so the trainer needs to ensure their lessons are efficient as well as engaging.

I think in general all the points that were listed are not just related to Business English but also in general English

Time is a factor that prevents business learners from attending the classes due to their work commitment.
Socialising and networking important in any business so it is important to use this in a lesson. Culture consideration is not just related to business but we have to be respectful of all cultures and traditions.
Everyone has specific needs; it could also relate to a disabled person who has specific needs or slow learners.
Everyone is accountable for their actions, not just Business. I teach different levels of students and for different reasons such as teachers and students who want to take the Cambridge exam, general conversation, IELTs preparation so everyone has to be accountable.

To be a professional Business person, he/she should have a wide variety of specific characteristics on many fields. And the bigger number is, the higher level of professionalism he/she has got.

To start with one of the most important is TIME. And time management. It is namely the factor of time that can make them organise their schedule of work, study and rest, and helps them to devote part of their life to studying languages in order to speak it fluently directly with Business partners, understand better the company’s problems and communicate freely in the office and during their trips.

Secondly, OBJECTIVES are considered not of the least importance as a good level of English can help them get the job or move up the carrier ladder which one would not land without the knowledge of this global language in business context. Nowadays it is definitely crucial to be able to express yourself confidently on a range of topics in business environment if the goal is to get an interesting and well-paid position in a multinational. Being able to participate in business meetings and videoconferences, negotiate effectively, give presentations in English is a step forward for them to be promoted faster in comparison to the colleagues of the same department.

And thirdly is PROFESSIONALISM. Being able to use specialised vocabulary and phrases will make them sound like real experts and be treated more seriously in Business World. The Business Learner who negotiates with his/her partners not in the mother tongue but in English will increase his value a lot and be more recognisable among partners.

    1. TIME: Business learners put an emphasis on time, since they need to use the skills in their business/work life. They try their best to meet the goals they put themselves to, and get to the level to which they expect themselves. This means they do not have lots of free time, comparing to a general learner, to learn the language, and need to do so in a shorter time-length.

    2. ACCOUNTABILITY: As I touched upon in my first point (time), business language learners need to hold themselves accountable to reach their goals because of shorter time and a necessity to acquire the target language for their professional life to expand and move forward. This is another main key which sets business learners apart from general, as general learners might be learning the language for fun, or if for a goal, on a less priority comparing to business learners.

    3. SPECIFIC NEEDS: Which means each individual is working in a different field, so the language they need to or want to learn isn’t same with someone from another field of work.

Objectives: For business learners, the objectives are very clear from the beginning, however they differ according to the learner’s position. A general director would learn differently then a secretary or a technician. According to that, the exercises would also differ. While a technician may put his focus on technical vocabulary and on presentations, a secretary would rather practice his/her communication skills, preparing of meetings and similar.

Accountability: This is a very important point for business language learners as, for their employer paying their courses (and maybe offering them working time for taking the classes), they engage themselves to optimise their language skills the best way. In some cases, the newly-acquainted skills would be used immediately for cooperating with foreign partners or customers, in others the learner may be even sent abroad (for a short to a very long trip) for working with an affiliate, partner company or customer. This means that the skills are even indispensable as they are linked to set up business contracts and thus to a high amount of money.

Cultural considerations: In the business world, cultural considerations cannot be under-estimated. Just learning a language is not sufficient, however, the way to use a language, politeness verbiage, mimics and gestures are of utmost importance in order to break the ice and to ensure the collaboration with business partners, especially from culturally very remote countries.

    Temps:

the business language learner is characterized by:

    Time:
Compared to other learners, business learners may have less time. They are occupied by their jobs and responsibilities. Business learners may have other priorities or professional obligations.
If the lesson is during the day, urgent phone calls, emails, trouble shootings, meetings or last-minute work obligations can distract them. In an evening course they will be physically more available but maybe tired from a workday. They may not always be able to attend lessons at the same time, every week. It is important to adapt the planning according to the availability of the learner,
    each week.

    Socializing and networking:
Different levels of communication are required for different situations. The aim of business English is an efficient and clear communication with the superiors, colleagues, customers, other professionals… It helps you to adapt the business language learner to different situations, dealing with different persons, all over the world. To be successful he has to transmit a message, or an information, across clearly and briefly. To make the communication successful, he has to know exactly what he want to say, and say it in the best possible way. In general, the level of fluency is more important than showing off the knowledge or the vocabulary. In networking situations, the main aim is to create a pleasant and memorable impression to transmit the message. Efficient and effective communications are important skills in the workplace, and in a digitalized, globalized world.

    Objectives:
Business language learners are different from other learners in terms of their objectives. Some of them want to develop new vocational skills, have to adapt to changing labour market conditions, have to change career, will be promoted, or learn for professional development…, others have a specific deadline, preparing a conference or business trip…
Business language learners are goal oriented, they are much more engaged and motivated when the course content is relevant to their everyday situations like working skills they need to practice (telephoning, mailing, negotiating, giving presentations…). It is important that the trainer take these needs in consideration to make the course more attractive and efficient.

Business learners are often short on time because they have work responsibilities, so trainers should design lessons that efficiently improve their language skills in the business world. These learners are highly motivated, as they typically have specific goals and objectives in mind. Being proficient in a foreign language, including proper use of business terminology, can help to foster a sense of professionalism. Additionally, learning about a foreign culture through language acquisition can be a valuable aspect of the learning experience for business learners. In summary, considerations such as time constraints, motivation, professional development, and cultural awareness are key characteristics of this type of learner.

In order to be successful in the business world, you need to be able to communicate effectively in a business environment. This means understanding and using the specialized vocabulary and terminology of the business world. Business communication for success often includes words or phrases that are specific to a particular industry or field. For example: If you work in banking, you will need to know terms such as “liquid assets” and “interest rates.” If you work in marketing, you will need to know terms such as “branding” and “target audience.” Knowing the right Business show that you are knowledgeable and professional and that you can communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
Business terminology is used in a wide variety of settings, including business meetings, presentations, and email correspondence. Its goal is to communicate information clearly and effectively while maintaining a professional and diplomatic tone. To achieve this goal, business people typically avoid everyday slang or jargon and use concise, well-structured sentences.

Adults, in particular, have little time or resources to devote to learning a new language. Business students who want to advance in their careers often decide to learn a foreign language, and those who take language classes will have more job opportunities throughout their careers.
Although language learning isn’t always a top priority for business students, the ability to communicate effectively in another language is. Trainers must also remember that there is an emotional component to professional settings. Students studying business will be expected to interact with their partners and colleagues in a friendly and respectful manner, as well as give a business presentation in a foreign language. This means that when students learn communicative functions in a foreign language, they should also be able to understand when and how to apply them in appropriate contexts. Students should also enjoy their learning experience and participate in the creation of a positive learning community.
Business students must maintain a schedule that allows them to participate in class while also meeting their professional obligations. As a result, an effective lesson plan should emphasize the importance of using a foreign language in highly professional contexts as a primary goal. Trainers should develop language activities that are relevant to the primary career goals of business learners; business learners are motivated by external factors as they need to learn a language to achieve their professional and personal goals. Knowing the cultural context of the countries in which you do business will help you avoid miscommunications and unnecessary business losses.

As I mentioned in the previous discussion the business language learner is different from the regular learner in terms of motivation, time, objectives… But before that, those learners must have solid prior knowledge of a general English language on which one can build because the goal of teaching business English language is increasing oral and written English in a business context. When it comes to motivation, their motivation is basically related to their job. This is actually related to their professionalism level and the time spent on studying this language. Socializing and networking are also important for them because it is one of the characteristics found in any business learner. Accountability, however, is not in my list because it is not taken into consideration by all learners.
